Community Connections

“Nova Horizons has provided invaluable assistance to my family and many other families affected by war and natural disasters.  Your support has not only been a necessary resource for us, but also a support in difficult times.  Our family feels at home here, surrounded by care and support.”

Our Community Connections activities help create relationships and a deeper understanding of Nova Scotia’s community, services and culture.

Learning Circles: These facilitated conversations bring newcomers together to explore important topics with knowledgeable resource people.  The format is designed so everyone learns – newcomers and resource people.

Casual Connections: This program newcomers together with community leaders they may never otherwise meet. We simply bring people together through casual activities, like a visit to a museum or walk on a trail, and the conversations and connections evolve naturally.

Cultural Connections and Social Events:  Belonging ….. It’s that feeling we have when we know it’s time to put down roots.  A sense of belonging is key to helping newcomers feel hope for their future in Nova Scotia.  Our social events bring newcomers together to laugh; share food; learn from each other and foster new relationships.
