Who We Support

Since November 2024, we have supported over 580 families from Ukraine, Afghanistan, Syria, Iran, Turkey, Morocco,  Haiti, Sudan, Palestinian Territories and Israel.

We understand there are many regions of the world where people are fleeing unimaginable terrors.  Our hope is that someday we will have capacity to support all refugees who come to Nova Scotia seeking a safe and fresh start.

Our current requirements are people of foreign citizenship who arrive in Canada from a country that has been assigned special immigration measures because of war or natural disaster.  During their first year in Nova Scotia, newcomers are eligible to receive free household furnishings and are invited to participate fully in our programs, volunteer opportunities, and special events.

Our eligibility list is frequently updated based on global events and the CIC list of countries receiving special immigration measures.
